Madhur Antakshari@Aarohi 2009
Madhur Antakshari is an event of Aarohi, central India’s biggest cultural festival. It one of the events in the cluster. It is funded partly by the parents of late Madhur. It is led this yr by our beloved sanmati didi(final year trical).The team comprised of sanmati from final yr; myself(parag ,meta), shubham (trical), sovil(chemical) & trivenika(chemical) from third yr and many second year friends like anish,meenal, ankur,prerna,kasturi etc.
There are many events in Aarohi. The biggest of all is ‘Purple Haze’ The Band Contest which is generally on Saturday. As a tradition Antakshari is kept on the following morning. It was conducted in physics assembly hall `coz of ready sound system.
Antakshari is a simple yet refreshing event. We introduced many new rounds still keeping some of the classic ones. First of all Elims were taken. In Elims around 20 questions were asked. These questions were based on knowledge of hindi movies and film music. We rounded up the Elims in one hour with results in hand. Then 10 teams comprising of 2 members each were selected for subsequent rounds. We divided these teams in two groups of 5 teams. Group one was called up to play.
There were many rounds.Some of these rounds are as follows:
- Aabra ka Dabra (god knows why it got this name) wherein a picture is hidden behind a grid of 9 small squares. It is a buzzer round and teams have to recognize the name of the personality whose picture is behind the grid. In step one 3 squares are removed, in next step another 3 are removed and in the last step remaining 3 squares are removed. Marks are awarded step wise. Negative marking was present. - Another round. Here, one of the partners comes centre stage. He is shown a visual on the computer. He has to describe the plot of the song without mentioning the name of actor/actress, name of the movie in 2 minutes. Correctly guessed and song sung in which the actor is present from another movie +20, correctly guessed the song only.......+10.No negative markings.
- A short clip which comes before the song in a movie is played.Teams have to guess the song.This is a buzzer round.
- A spinning wheel was brought and packets having a small puzzle in it were fixed on it. One of the team members comes forward and chooses the packet from the wheel and goes back to his seat. Correctly sung the song based on the puzzle fetches +20,just solved the puzzle+10 and totally failed-5.
- Jumbled words were kept in a box having name of actor/actress. Pick two of them and sing a song having the pair of actor/actress.
- Then there was, in the beginning, the basic round of Antakshari where teams sing songs starting from the last word the earlier team has ended upon.
After this 2 teams managed to go into the next round. Later the remaining group was called upon to play the same set of rounds and from there also 2 teams managed to go up. Then a grand (??) finale was played amongst these 4 teams. Some of the above mentioned rounds were from finals. We were very thankful to the QPC friends for their help.
This year (2010) we are thinking of introducing some new rounds for making Antakshari more exciting. Take a look,
- A famous dialogue will be played and team has to recognize the name of the movie from where it is taken and sing a song from the same movie.
- "just like dumb charades" where a partner comes center stage,picks up a chit on which the name of a movie is written,other one guesses it in stipulated time.
